Portofino, April 26, 2025
"The best day we could have wished for," said the President of the Yacht Club Italiano, Carlo Cameli, at the close of the 5th edition of the Regate di Primavera Portofino. "Despite this morning’s not very encouraging forecasts, the Tigullio really gave its best today with a spectacular day: wind around 12 knots, flat seas, and colors like an impressionist painting. We close this event with satisfaction and the pleasure of having managed to complete two beautiful days of racing, despite yesterday’s necessary break. Congratulations to the winners of the two classes and see you next year for an even more special edition."
The fifth edition of the Regate di Primavera thus ended with postcard-perfect sailing conditions, with the wind rising to 12 knots from the south-southeast, steady in both strength and direction, and flat seas. Dominating today in the most numerous class (IRC) was the Mylius 65 Oscar 3 owned by Aldo Parisotto – with tactical calls by Paolo Cian – which, with a second place on Friday and today’s victory, claimed the top spot in the standings. Behind him was the large Maxi 79 Nice by Marco Malgara, and in third place the ICE 52 No Regret by Felice Egidi. Spectacular on the water were the crossings between the Maxi 100 Arca by Furio Benussi, always first to finish in real time, and the flying Mills FlyingNikka by Roberto Lacorte, which, thanks to today’s conditions, was able to fully express its power, flying over the water at nearly 30 knots.
Among the Open class, racing in real time without time correction, the leading trio was confirmed, with first place going to Moonshine by Stefano Brunello – with the talented Pietro D’Alì on board – ahead of the Eleva 50 Black Samurai by Giuseppe Porro and Shanti, the Solaris 58 by Claudio Cimatti and Luigi Sturani. A special mention goes to the 4th place of Frally, the Grand Soleil 52 owned by the President of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, a passionate sailor who personally helms his boat, easily recognized by its foresail bearing the large cross of St. George.
The Regate di Primavera concluded with the awards ceremony on Molo Umberto I in Portofino, with an appointment for spring 2026 and the 6th edition of these beautiful regattas.
