Trofeo Porto Carlo Riva
Imxtinente by Adelio Frixione is the winner of the Porto Carlo Riva Challenge Trophy.
Two splendid days at sea framed the second edition of the Trofeo Porto Carlo Riva, which featured 32 boats along one of the most scenic stretches of the Ligurian coast.
On Saturday, dedicated to the Genoa–Rapallo course, the fleet started in light southerly winds. While passing under Monte di Portofino, conditions changed: the wind began to strengthen and shift to the southeast, forcing crews to tack along the magnificent Portofino promontory. Once in the Gulf of Tigullio, the typical local thermal breeze came in, guiding the boats in a picturesque “parade” to the finish line, set in front of Porto Carlo Riva.
Great appreciation was shown for the hospitality offered to the crews at Porto Carlo Riva in Rapallo. The welcome cocktail organized by the O’Magazìn restaurant was particularly successful, giving participants a convivial evening in a unique atmosphere.
On Sunday, for the return leg Rapallo–Genoa, weather forecasts did not suggest favourable conditions, with little wind expected and a potentially slow sail back toward the Gulf of Genoa. After a lively start off Rapallo, once again the Portofino promontory surprised the fleet, offering better-than-expected conditions. A light northerly breeze then carried the fleet to the finish line, located in front of Lido di Albaro.
As for the results in the Libera Mini division, victory went to OLLIP by Edoardo Bozzo (LNI Genova Centro), second place to Scheggia by Emanuela Rossi (CN Rapallo), and third place to Falcor by Roberto Soldano (LNI Santa Margherita Ligure).
In the Libera Maxi class, first place went to ITACENTODUE by Adriano Calvini (YCI), second place to Moonshine by Stefano Brunello (YCCA), and third place to TRE C by Carlo Bertani (YCPA).
In the ORC class, victory went to Fremito D’Arja by Marcello De Gaspari (LNI Genova Centro), second place to Imxtinente by Adelio Frixione (YCI), which also won the Porto Carlo Riva Challenge Trophy awarded to the boat with the lowest corrected time across the two races, and third place to Chestress 3 by Giancarlo Ghislanzoni (YCI).
The second edition concluded with the prize-giving ceremony at the Yacht Club Italiano headquarters and a farewell until next year’s edition.
The regatta is organized by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with Porto Carlo Riva in Rapallo and the Circolo Nautico di Rapallo.
