The Coppa Poggi returns to the water in 2027 with a new edition entirely dedicated to the 420 class, reaffirming its place in the Yacht Club Italiano’s youth sailing calendar.
The waters off Genoa will provide the crews with an important testing ground ahead of the 1st Coppa Italia 420, scheduled just a few days later, giving them the opportunity to assess their preparation, speed and tactics on the same racecourse.
The regatta is named after Luigi “Mino” Poggi, a long-standing member and prominent figure in the history of the Yacht Club Italiano. Poggi won a gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games in the 8 Metre I.R. class, sailing aboard Italia: a victory that holds an important place in the history of Italian sailing and continues to be celebrated through this event.
