REGATE DI PRIMAVERA PORTOFINO 2026
Second day in the Gulf of Tigullio: Mistral Gagnant leads the IRC fleet, ARCA SGR remains at the top in the Open class.
Portofino, 2 May 2026
The second day of racing for the Regate di Primavera Portofino fleet in the Gulf of Tigullio was marked by perfect conditions, allowing for a long and technical race.
The Race Committee started proceedings as scheduled at 11:00, with a south-westerly breeze of around 8 knots, gradually building to approximately 12 knots. Once again, a coastal course was selected, initially set at 8 miles and later extended, as the wind increased, to approximately 20 miles, offering crews a varied and demanding race across multiple points of sail along the Portofino promontory.
In the IRC group, racing under corrected time, MISTRAL GAGNANT, the Solaris 50 owned by Marco Ferrero, leads the standings at the end of the day, followed on equal points by TWIN SOUL B, the Mylius 80 of Luciano Gandini, and NICE, the ILC Maxi 79 of Marco Malgara.
In the Open class, racing in real time, ARCA SGR, the 100-footer owned by Furio Benussi, retains the lead, ahead of MOONSHINE, the Frers 60 of Stefano Brunello, and ITACENTODUE, the Felci 61 of Adriano Calvini.
It was an intense and spectacular day on the water, matching yesterday’s excellent conditions, set once again against the unique backdrop of Portofino.
Upon returning to the harbour, crews were welcomed with a gelato delivery service offered by the historic Gelateria San Giorgio in Portofino. Tomorrow’s first start is scheduled for 11:00, with the prize-giving ceremony to follow in Portofino at the conclusion of the regattas.
