YCI Wing Foil | Yacht Club Italiano

The Yacht Club Italiano Wing Foil Team represents an innovative benchmark for the development of the Club’s youth sector. Established with the aim of introducing new generations to sailing through the most modern Wing Foil discipline, the team seeks to progressively build on and enhance the national and international results achieved by the Windsurf and Kitesurf classes. Regular training sessions, participation in the main national and international regattas, and a strong team spirit: these are the key elements and goals that define the YCI Wing Foil group.

Trainers

Manuela Scognamiglio

Debuts in sailing at the age of 13 at Circolo Canottieri Napoli in the Europa class, then at 14 develops a passion for windsurfing in the Mistral class, before moving on to the wave and slalom disciplines. She has been teaching windsurfing since 2004 in Portugal, where she lived for 10 years and spent most of her competitive career, winning the national wave title in 2005. A VDWS instructor and center manager since 2005 at the Starboard Procenter in Sagres, she obtained recognition of the Italian FIV federal qualification in 2021 and now runs courses at various clubs in Liguria and Sardinia. In 2024 she earned the Club Coach qualification. She joined Yacht Club Italiano in October 2024 to coach the T293 racing team, with the support of former YCI athlete Anila Morgado. Currently continuing training with the newly formed YCI Wing Foil team.

Paolo Granara

Begins practicing Wing Foil in 2020, at the very early stages of the discipline in Italy (originally developed in Hawaii in 2017), integrating sailing experience in the 420 class with skills gained in Stand Up Paddle (SUP) surfing. Starts teaching Wing Foil in 2021 at Circolo Tramontana Voltri Surf in Genoa through an EPS recognized by CONI, developing strong teaching expertise and communication skills, leading to the achievement of the FIV federal qualification as a Wing Foil Instructor. Joins the Yacht Club Italiano in October 2025 with the goal of expanding the Italian Wing Foil movement by focusing on the fundamental objective of creating and coaching a youth Wing Foil racing team.

Anila Morgado

Begins her sailing career in 2017 and in 2018 joins the T293 racing team at the Yacht Club Italiano. In 2019 she starts competing, taking part in the national Coppa Italia circuit, which she continues through 2023. In 2022 she begins the FIV training pathway, obtaining the qualification of assistant instructor and working at several summer sailing centers in Liguria and Sardinia. In December 2024 she earns the Level I Instructor qualification. During the 2024/2025 season, she supports the training sessions and regattas of the T293 racing team. She currently collaborates with the club within the newly formed Wing Foil team.
