The Genova Sailing Week – Coppa Andrea Alberti concluded today, offering participants three days of racing in the Gulf of Genoa. Favorable weather conditions allowed the Race Committee to complete six races for all classes, enabling the 40 registered crews to carry out a full and technically solid racing program.
The regattas took place in well-defined weather conditions, with two days characterized by the classic Genoese tramontana and one day with a south-westerly wind consistently above 12 knots—conditions that ensured the smooth running of the schedule and highly technical, closely contested races.
At the end of the event, the traditional prize-giving ceremony was held in the main hall of the Yacht Club Italiano, in keeping with the long-standing tradition of the regatta. During the ceremony, President Carlo Cameli reminded all participants of the long history of the Coppa Andrea Alberti, which has now reached its 71st edition.
As for the results, in the J80 one-design class, first place went to Joke by Nicola Odone (YCI), followed by Cico J by Claudio Cicconetti (CV Vernazzolesi) in second place, and Jayrose by Bertani, Agrossi, and Spada (LNI Genova Quinto) in third.
In the J70 class, victory went to CAIM – Jeniale Team by Massimo Rama (YC Chiavari), who also claimed the Coppa Alessio Roccatagliata, established in memory of a young member of the Yacht Club Italiano who tragically passed away and awarded to the winner of the largest one-design class. Second place went to ITA4 by Piero Cardone (CV Sori), with Air Force One by Carlo Cameli (YCI) finishing third.
In the ORC 2 group, first place went to Robe de Matt by Luigi Buzzi (CN Celle), followed by Melagodo by Luca De Luca (CDV Erix), and First…issima by Fabio Montale (YCI) in third.
In the ORC 1 group, the winner—also Overall Champion of the Alto Tirreno and Ligurian National Championship, as well as winner of the 71st Coppa Andrea Alberti awarded to the top overall finisher in the largest group—was Lisa R by Giovanni Di Vincenzo (CRV Italia). Second place went to Arkas Blue Moon by Bernard Arkas (Turkey), with WB IX by Pietro Bianchi (YC Parma) in third.
The Genova Sailing Week – Coppa Andrea Alberti once again confirms itself as a key event in the sailing calendar and in Genoa’s sporting tradition, combining history, sport, and a passion for sailing, and attracting owners and crews to the waters of the Gulf of Genoa year after year.
The next appointment is already set for the upcoming edition, continuing a tradition that for over seventy years has been a benchmark for sailing in Genoa.
