The Gentlemen Challenge 2026 concludes in Genoa
Over the weekend, The Gentlemen Challenge took place, the inter-club land-based regatta organised by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Società del Casino. Over three days, the event brought together 12 teams from across Italy.
The event was sailed using the Yacht Club Italiano’s fleet of eight J/70s. Throughout the three days of racing, characterised by high-pressure weather conditions, the full programme was completed thanks to a light Scirocco breeze that accompanied the races. The regattas were particularly exciting and closely fought, with very short and tight courses. A strong competitive spirit could be felt on the water, with well-managed races also thanks to the effective work of the on-water umpiring.
After 12 races, the final standings saw the Società del Whist take first place, followed by the Circolo degli Scacchi. Completing the podium in third place was the Circolo della Caccia.
The event confirms its status as a key fixture in the landscape of inter-club regattas, successfully combining competitive spirit and participation.
Next year’s edition has already been confirmed, with the aim of continuing the event’s growth and consolidation.
The next appointment for the Yacht Club Italiano will be the Regate di Primavera Portofino, scheduled in Portofino from 30 April to 3 May.
