THE MILLEVELE IREN 2025 CONCLUDES AT SEA: SUMMER CONDITIONS AND LIGHT WINDS FOR THE FLEET OF 214 YACHTS IN THE GULF OF GENOA

Genoa, 20 September 2025 — At 11:00 a.m., the cannon shot marked the start of the 37th edition of the Millevele Iren, the great sailing parade organized by the Yacht Club Italiano. A total of 214 boats took part in the event, divided into three groups according to their length:

  • Yellow Group: up to 11 metres
  • Green Group: from 11 to 18 metres
  • Red Group: over 18 metres

The fleet filled the Gulf of Genoa with colour along the course from La Foce to the final mark off Recco, in a distinctly summery atmosphere marked by light breezes and calm seas.

The boats set off with winds of 4–5 knots, conditions that favoured the lighter and more performance-oriented yachts. After about an hour and a half, as the wind continued to drop, the Race Committee decided to shorten the course, setting the finish line near the Levante marks.

The first boats to cross the finish line in each group were:

  • Melges 24 Melgina, owned by Paolo Brescia (Yacht Club Italiano) – Yellow Group
  • Swan 42 Koirè – Spirit of Nerina (CV Cernobbio) – Green Group
  • Felci 61 Itacentodue, owned by Adriano Calvini (Yacht Club Italiano) – Red Group

Among those on board were several institutional figures: the Mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis, who sailed aboard Blue Indy, the yacht of Yacht Club Italiano President Carlo Cameli, and the Governor of Liguria, Marco Bucci, who took part with his GS 52 Frally.

The day at sea continues this evening with the Crew Party dedicated to all participants, while the award ceremony will take place tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the Genoa International Boat Show, where the winners in all categories will be celebrated.
