Vele d’Epoca di Imperia
The Vele d’Epoca di Imperia concluded after four days of racing dedicated to historic boats, with our Club’s colors taking top honors in the two main divisions.
Aria (1935), owned by member Serena Galvani, triumphed in the 8 Metre International Class, claiming the Coppa Imperia.
Crivizza (1966), owned by member Gigi Rolandi, won the prestigious Trofeo Città di Imperia, awarded to the Vintage/Classics fleet.
“In this special year,” commented a radiant Serena Galvani, “as we celebrated Aria’s 90th anniversary, she decided to give us this extraordinary victory, perfectly complementing the many social and charitable initiatives she participates in throughout the season. Thanks go to our helmsman Pietro D’Alì, skipper Giampaolo Vatta, and Fabio Montefusco, the three veterans of a crew entirely made up of young athletes from the Yacht Club Italiano.”
Adding further prestige to Aria’s win, Serena Galvani’s 8 Metre achieved first place both on the real-time and corrected-time rankings.
“A series of perfect races,” also stated Gigi Rolandi, “we managed to finish the week in Imperia with a string of first places on corrected time and, in the final race, the great satisfaction of finishing first on real time as well, closing a series of challenging races held in varied and highly technical conditions.”
Congratulations to our members for these achievements, which honor both tradition and the passion of our Club.
