The 62nd edition of the Coppa Luigi “Mino” Poggi, a traditional fixture on the Yacht Club Italiano’s racing calendar dedicated to the ILCA and 420 classes, has concluded in the waters off Genoa.
Five races were completed over the two days of competition, with particularly favourable wind conditions: northerly Tramontana winds on the first day and southeasterly winds on the second, consistently exceeding 12 knots and reaching peaks of up to 22 knots.
Outstanding results for the Yacht Club Italiano racing team, which claimed victory in all three ILCA classes: Vlad Miroshnychenko in ILCA 7, Lucia Saglietti in ILCA 6 and Carlo Achille Solinas in ILCA 4.
In the 420 class, victory went to the crew of Edoardo Pastorino and Riccardo Trentini, who were also awarded the Coppa Luigi Mino Poggi. Our sailors Ettore Donà and Costanza Cenci secured third place on the podium.
Held on 24 and 25 October, the event honours the memory of Luigi “Mino” Poggi, a distinguished long-standing member of the Club and Olympic gold medallist at the 1936 Games in the 8 Metre International Rule class aboard Italia.
