Overall Victory for the Swiss Yves Mermod – Maja Siegenthaler (2024 Paris Olympic 470 Mixed Sailors). First Italians: Club Members Paolo Brescia – Filippo Vulcanile, 10th Overall
The 2025 Fireball World Championship concluded on Friday, August 29, hosted by Circolo Vela Arco, in a historic edition both for participation and the number of nations represented: 136 boats from 14 countries, with veterans and established champions racing alongside many young sailors and women, for a week that combined competition, friendship, and fun. Over 60 years since its inception, the Fireball class continues to attract significant numbers and a tight-knit international community. This technical yet accessible dinghy, which demands careful sail tuning and crew weight balance, captivates both seasoned sailors and new generations alike.
An excellent performance from Italians Paolo Brescia and Filippo Vulcanile, veterans of the class and already 12-time Italian champions, who after moving close to the podium on Thursday, finished in 10th place overall, remaining in the top ten and bringing an Italian crew back among the prize winners.
