Two beautiful days at sea set the stage for the second edition of the Porto Carlo Riva Trophy, organized by our Club, which saw 32 boats competing along one of the most scenic stretches of the Ligurian coast.
On Saturday, dedicated to the Genova–Rapallo course, the fleet set off in a light southerly breeze. As they passed beneath the Portofino promontory, conditions changed with a gradual increase in wind and a shift to the southeast, forcing crews to tack along the headland. Once into the Gulf of Tigullio, the typical local thermal breeze carried the boats to the finish line, positioned in front of Porto Carlo Riva.
Great appreciation was expressed for the hospitality of Porto Carlo Riva. Saturday evening unfolded in a convivial atmosphere, thanks to the welcome cocktail organized by the O’Magazìn restaurant.
On Sunday, for the return leg from Rapallo to Genova, forecasts predicted light winds and a potentially slow progression toward the Gulf of Genova. After a lively start, the Portofino promontory once again offered better conditions than expected. A light northerly breeze (tramontana) ultimately accompanied the fleet all the way to the finish, set off the Lido di Albaro.
