Yacht Club Italiano Optimist Team has completed two busy weeks of competition on Lake Como, first in Mandello del Lario for the Italian Team Championship and then at the Optiweek regatta, organised by Marvélia.
At the Italian Team Championship, the Club was represented by two teams. YCI 1 finished in eighth place, with some disappointment after the final Gold Fleet match narrowly denied them a place in the semi-finals despite an excellent overall performance. YCI 2 secured ninth place overall and won the Pisoni Trophy, awarded to the top-ranked team in the Silver Fleet.
The campaign then continued with three days of training on the racecourse ahead of Optiweek, which attracted 114 young sailors. The entire Yacht Club Italiano team delivered an outstanding collective performance, placing six sailors among the top fifteen overall. Leading the team was Gabriele Burlando, who finished second overall, while Adele Trillo claimed second place in the girls' classification, further highlighting the squad's high competitive standard.
These two demanding yet highly rewarding weeks once again demonstrated the value of the daily commitment shown by both the sailors and the coaching staff.
Special thanks go to coaches Mattia Bellico and Matteo Mulone, who supported the team throughout the two weeks of racing and training, playing a key role in the sailors' development and in achieving these excellent results.
