Two Yacht Club Italiano members starred in the inaugural edition of the Garda Trentino Foil Days, the new event organized by Circolo Surf Torbole, which brought together fin windsurfing, windsurf foiling, and wingfoiling on the waters of Lake Garda.
At the heart of the event was the historic RRD One Hour Classic, one of the most iconic and long-standing windsurfing races in Europe. Established in 1989 on Lake Garda, the competition has been a landmark event for the windsurfing community for more than 35 years. In 2026, the One Hour Classic entered a new chapter by becoming part of the Garda Trentino Foil Days, an innovative format combining fin windsurfing, windsurf foiling, and wingfoiling within a single event, while preserving its rich heritage and embracing the evolution of the sport.
In the Fin Windsurfing category, Yacht Club Italiano athlete Matteo Iachino, World Champion and one of the discipline's leading competitors for many years, claimed victory ahead of France's Kevin Grosjean and the Netherlands' Bart Van den Bogaart.
Another success came from YCI member Luca Franchi, who won the Wingfoil category thanks to an impressive comeback in Saturday's decisive race. Franchi finished ahead of Sebastiano Zorzi and Carlo Ciabatti, who had led the standings after the opening day.
The achievements of Matteo Iachino and Luca Franchi once again highlight Yacht Club Italiano's presence at the highest level of wind- and board-based sailing disciplines, a fast-growing sector that continues to attract increasing international attention.
