Yacht Club Italiano 420 Team has concluded a long and demanding international campaign, spending nearly a month between Biscarrosse, France, host of the 420 World Championship, and Nida, Lithuania, where the 420 European Championship took place.
At the World Championship, Yacht Club Italiano was represented by three crews: two competing in the Under 19 category and one in the Under 17 category. The event was held on a particularly challenging racecourse, with light and highly variable winds that demanded exceptional tactical awareness and constant adaptation from the sailors.
The team then moved on to Lithuania for the European Championship, where the Club fielded two Under 17 crews. Following an excellent start to the qualification series, which saw the team climb to fifth place overall, our sailors finished the championship with a strong 12th place overall. Giancarlo Postiglione and Carolina Vulcanile also secured second place in the Under 17 Mixed division.
Nearly a month of racing, training, and competing against the world's top 420 sailors provided an invaluable opportunity for technical and competitive growth for the entire team, further confirming the successful development of the Yacht Club Italiano's youth sailing programme.
A heartfelt thank you goes to coach Alessio Bellico, who supported the team throughout the entire campaign, guiding the crews through an intensive period of technical and competitive development.
Congratulations to all the sailors and the coaching staff for their commitment, professionalism, and determination throughout this important international experience.
