A fantastic result for our Club at the 12 Metre International Grand Prix World Championship, which concluded in Imperia.
KZ 5, entered by our member Andy Bianchedi, with fellow member Pietro D’Alì at the helm and Michele Remagnino, the Club’s Director of Youth Activities, serving as team manager, claimed the world title at the end of an outstanding week of racing. The team finished with five victories, one second place and one fourth place, securing the championship mathematically with a full day of racing still to go.
Completing a particularly significant podium for our Club was Kookaburra II, owned by our member Patrizio Bertelli, who has long been a leading presence on the racecourse under our Club burgee, finishing in second place.
The World Championship saw the Club burgee dominate throughout: in all eight races sailed, victory went to one of the two boats flying our colors, with five wins for KZ 5 and three for Kookaburra II.
The Danish team aboard Kiwi Magic completed the podium in third place.
Congratulations to Andy Bianchedi, Pietro D’Alì, Michele Remagnino and the entire KZ 5 team on winning the world title, and to Patrizio Bertelli and the crew of Kookaburra II on their outstanding second-place finish.
