The fifth edition of the Regate di Primavera Portofino concluded with two postcard-perfect days at sea, despite a respectful suspension of sporting activities on Saturday due to the funeral of Pope Francis.
The first day of racing was marked by light conditions, while Sunday brought steady 12-knot southwesterly winds and flat seas — ideal conditions for top-level racing.
Dominating the final day in the largest class (IRC) was the Mylius 65 Oscar 3, owned by Aldo Parisotto and guided by the tactical calls of Paolo Cian. With a second place on Friday and a win on Sunday, Oscar 3 climbed to the top of the leaderboard.
In second place: the mighty Maxi 79 Nice of Marco Malgara, followed by the ICE 52 No Regret helmed by Felice Egidi.
One of the most spectacular sights on the water was the crossing between the Maxi 100 Arca of Furio Benussi — consistently first in real time — and the foiling Mills design FlyingNikka, owned by YCI Member Roberto Lacorte, which, thanks to the favorable wind, unleashed its full power by flying over the water at nearly 30 knots.
In the Open Class, the leading trio remained unchanged, with victory going to Moonshine, owned by Stefano Brunello, and featuring the brilliant Pietro D’Alì on board.
They were followed by the Eleva 50 Black Samurai of YCI Member Giuseppe Porro, and Shanti, a Solaris 58 co-owned by Members Claudio Cimatti and Luigi Sturani.
Regate di Primavera Portofino wrapped up with the prize-giving ceremony held on the iconic Molo Umberto I in Portofino, and a warm see you in 2026 for the sixth edition of these beautiful regattas.
