After three days and six races, Irene, helmed by Marcello De Gasperi, was crowned winner of the 2025 Bombola d’Oro, also taking home the title of first Master over 65.
The Bombola d’Argento (reserved for wooden boats) went to Damina by Alberto Patrone, while Cicci, sailed by Filippo Jannello, won the Roberto Sestini Challenge Trophy, awarded to the overall winner based on the score without discard.
A perfect weekend on the Tigullio Gulf allowed two more races to be held on Sunday for the Dinghy 12 fleet, bringing the total for the 2025 edition to six races completed.
The prize-giving ceremony took place in the afternoon in Portofino, at the summer venue of the Yacht Club Italiano, where the following sailors were also awarded:
-Top Lady Helm: Maria Elena Balestrieri with Out of the Blue
-Top Super Master (Over 75): Sandro Ugolini with Epoxy Shark
-Top Legend (Over 80): Attilio Carmagnani with Tou Lì
-Allievi Cup (Youngest Helm): Andrea de Santis with Lunatica
-Corrado Choen Style & Elegance Award: Andreas Fuhrop with Obi Wan Kenobi
-Giovanni Falck Trophy (Team with the best overall results): “Quelli dei Venti”, made up of Andrea Falciola, Filippo Jannello, and Vittorio d’Albertas
This edition concluded with great satisfaction from all participants, and with heartfelt thoughts for Roberto Sestini, creator and driving force behind the Trophy, who passed away on January 6, 2024. A dear friend and supporter of the event, Giovanna Massinari, Roberto’s wife, also passed away in March.
Both were warmly remembered — for nearly thirty years, their presence in Portofino has been a symbol of hospitality and friendship for all sailors and guests.
