Extraordinary success for YCI Member Ambrogio Beccaria, who claimed victory in the Vendée Arctique aboard Allagrande Mapei in his very first solo race in the IMOCA class—one of the most demanding events on the international ocean racing calendar.
Starting from Les Sables-d'Olonne, Beccaria covered more than 3,100 nautical miles through the Bay of Biscay and the high latitudes of the North Atlantic, overcoming technical issues, a complete electrical blackout, and even having to stop at sea to free a fishing net tangled around the keel.
After a spectacular comeback in the second half of the race, the Milanese sailor steadily closed the gap to the leaders before catching Sam Goodchild in the final miles. The finish turned into a thrilling tactical duel, with Allagrande Mapei crossing the line first.
A prestigious achievement that confirms Ambrogio Beccaria's outstanding talent and highlights the potential of the Allagrande Mapei Racing project, firmly establishing the Italian skipper among the leading figures in international offshore sailing.
