Windsurfer Matteo Iachino is gearing up for a new epic challenge: a 150-mile journey from Golfo Aranci in Sardinia to Livorno, navigating on his windsurf board. Following last year’s success with the venture from Imperia to Giraglia (90 miles), the Yacht Club Italiano athlete is pushing himself even further with a longer and more demanding route: from Sardinia to Livorno.

Matteo Iachino, a professional windsurfer and former world champion of the PWA circuit in 2016, boasting numerous national and European titles, after completing the first solo crossing in 2022 aboard a foil windsurf - from Imperia to Corsica in 6 hours and 3 minutes - now embarks on an even more ambitious challenge with a project and route stretching from Golfo Aranci in Sardinia to Livorno: over 150 miles in a straight theoretical line, but many more following Matteo’s planned route.

The route will first pass through La Maddalena, then tackle the challenging Bonifacio straits with highly variable winds, continuing along the coast of Corsica until sighting Elba, which will be bypassed to the North after passing through Pianosa. Finally, it will follow the Tuscan coast from Piombino to the final destination.
