Sailing courses for adults
Our courses are also open to non-members of the Club.
This course is mandatory for participation in offshore races of category 0, 1, and 2, in accordance with the World Sailing OSR regulations. It provides comprehensive training in first aid and onboard medical emergency management, essential for safe operation in offshore sailing conditions.
The course aims to provide participants with the mandatory medical and first aid skills required for offshore racing categories 0, 1, and 2, in accordance with the World Sailing OSR regulations. By the end of the program, participants will be able to manage onboard emergencies, perform first aid interventions, and effectively support a crew in offshore sailing conditions.
The course is structured into two main sessions. The first focuses on BLSD (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation), covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques and the use of an automated external defibrillator. The second session is Medical First Aid, based on the World Sailing OSR syllabus, and covers all aspects of onboard medical care: emergency management at sea, trauma, illness, hypothermia, burns, evacuation procedures, and the use of the medical kit. The course combines theory and practical training to ensure full operational readiness in offshore environments.
No prior medical experience is required. The course is open to skippers and crew members participating or intending to participate in offshore racing. Familiarity with sailing and offshore navigation is recommended. A valid FIV membership for the current year is required.
The course is mandatory for all participants in offshore races of category 0, 1, and 2 and is intended for skippers, crew members, and onboard officers operating in offshore and ocean sailing.
