Grampus C&C 61'

Grampus, a 61-foot sloop designed by Cuthbertson & Cassian and launched in 1975, was commissioned by Angelo Rizzoli for the major Mediterranean regattas. One of the first boats built in epoxy resin with a balsa sandwich structure, she was exceptionally light for her size (23,000 kg). After a successful 1976 season between Portofino, Genoa, Marseille and the Giraglia, she was laid up and remained in Viareggio until 1990, when she was used for charter. There, Carlo Puri Negri rediscovered her, fell in love with her and purchased her. Fully restored in 1998, she returned to racing with great success until 2003, winning the Roma per Tutti twice and achieving top results in St. Tropez and the Giraglia. Since 2004, she has been entrusted to the Yacht Club Italiano for offshore sailing courses at the Beppe Croce Sea School. She has also taken part in the “Matti per la Vela” project, involving young people with disabilities in sailing trips and regattas such as the Barcolana.
